Let It Snow, Part Two

These pictures are so pretty and serene, I am just going to let them speak for themselves.

DSC_0316DSC_0318DSC_0320 DSC_0332DSC_0331DSC_0340DSC_0336I just love how you can see the sun starting to light the trees in the background. It was such a beautiful way to start the morning. Reminded me of God’s presence everywhere. If it was not so cold,  I would have stayed outside all morning taking pictures. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I do.

Give a girl a good camera and she thinks she is suddenly a photographer.

Let It Snow

Little did I know when I created the background for the blog this winter that it would be so appropriate. We in the South almost never get snow but in the last few years that has started to change. Needless to say, the Chicklet’s enjoyed watching the snow fall on Friday and waking up to a white morning on Saturday. They has snowball fights that froze them to the bone.DSC_0302It makes me cold just looking at the pictures.

DSC_0304 DSC_0305As you can see with all the snow, it is no wonder my living room looked like the laundry room for the next day.

DSC_0307It was pretty but I sure am glad it is gone. I do not drive in the snow. I don’t think  could live in the North were it snowed all of the time. I would never leave my house.

Check back tomorrow, I am going to post some pictures that I took outside on Saturday morning of the snow.

Roses for the Teachers

This year I pulled an old idea out of my head for the teachers gifts. I made them roses out of Kisses. I made these one year when I was in high school. I think my dad still has the ones that I made him in his office. DSC_0287After about 3 hours of wrapping the kisses in red cellophane, adding a wire stem, leave and lots of florist tape, I had a large stack of roses.

DSC_0293  In the end, I had a dozen roses each for the six teachers that the chicklet’s have. When I took them to the school, I was stopped in the halls several times to comment on how cute they were. I think they were a big hit.DSC_0294 Happy Valentines Day!

Valentine Treats

This year I made my famous Rice Crispy Treat Hearts for the Chicklet’s to take to their friends at school.DSC_0284I made sheets of the treats and then used my heart cookie cutter to cut the treats out. After I had them cut, I melted red chocolate and drizzled it over the hearts. DSC_0288After the chocolate was dried, I put them in a cellophane bag and tied them with curly ribbon. all of the kids in the girls class love to get these for each holiday.

DSC_0290I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentines Day.

Sugar High, Course One

Chicklet #1 and I just completed our first cake course and had a ball. This course was a Christmas present from her Papa and she has absolutely loved every min. of it. We learned how to make icing, write on cakes, different drop flowers, clowns and roses. I have to say that I have a greater appreciation for all the ladies who can make all of the gorgeous roses on wedding cakes, because they are hard to make.

100_0210Here is her Clown. It is hard to tell what it looks like with all of the parts being the same color but it is too cute. 100_0192Here she is learning how to make the first part of the rose. 100_0219This is her first completed rose. Eating the rose after we made it, made me think about all the times when I was younger and Aunt Julia and I would go to Harvey’s just to get icing roses to eat. Oh the fond sugar induced memories.100_0226 We made cupcakes during the 3rd class to take home. For the last class we made cakes that we decorated with some of the techniques that we learned and this is our results. I would have had better pictures of them and pictures from the class itself but Chicklet #2 got a hold of the camera and accidently deleted all them. Please ignore the fact that the cakes are half eaten. That is a testament to how good they are.DSC_0281This is Chicklet #1’s creation. She had to have blue roses. They turned out really pretty.DSC_0282  This is my creation. I just love yellow roses. We start on the next course of the class this Saturday.

Martha Stewart look out. Here we come!
